Hyde Farm CAN Events

We invite you to join us at Hyde Farm Climate Action Network’s events.  We also list other local events run by like-minded organisations.

After the success of the recent Open Evening we are now even more sure than ever that there is huge backing for climate action in the Hyde Farm and the surrounding area.

To tap into that energy we thought it would be worthwhile meeting up soon and brainstorming some actions that we can get started sooner rather than later.  Many people said they were interested in helping organise Hyde Farm CAN, which means we could get a lot of projects/events/research ideas going – and no one person would have to be responsible for everything – we can work in little teams – networking – which is, after all, what it is all about.

So we thought before the holiday season starts we would hold a couple of brainstorming evenings – where we can get to know one another – and identify some projects and teams that can be started over the summer.

We look forward to seeing you at one of these.  If have an interest in helping organise or support Hyde Farm CAN and you can't make our meetings don't worry - we'll let you know the outcome so you can still get involved.

Annual General Meeting & Celebration

Sunday 23rd November 2008

7pm for a 7.30 start

The Bedford  - Tavistock Room (top floor)

77 Bedford Hill    Balham  London SW12 9HD

Please come along to our first ever Annual General Meeting. Even if you have never been to a meeting or Hyde Farm CAN activity before, this AGM will be a great chance to get together and celebrate our achievements during the year and think about where we are headed in the year to come.

The fact that we are holding an AGM at all is a reflection of the fact that we are getting organized so we can apply for funding. We realize that we can do a lot lot more if we have a little bit of money.  We have drafted a constitution and that needs to be adopted, and we need to elect our steering committee, which will meet regularly and plan events. But we do not want the formal proceedings to dominate the evening and are planning to limit that bit to half an hour starting at 7.30. (The agenda is below).

Then we can focus on the celebration and the networking, and as ever we will have an energy advisor there and some energy saving products to inspect, so you will be able to leave the event feeling a little bit ‘greener’.

Find us upstairs on the top floor (stairs are to the right of the pub). If you do not want wine or water, please buy a drink at the bar and bring it up (don’t come up first as it’s a long way back down!

Energy Evenings Running regularly throughout the Hyde Farm at Hyde Farm CAN members houses to share ideas and experiences on how to green up. Emphasis on the social - to be a network we need to network! More hosts needed. A good way to introduce friends and neighbours to the network. Let us know if you are interested in hosting or attending an energy evening.

Draughtbusting Saturday - to be arranged in the autumn. First one consisted of visiting Sue's house 10-2pm (58 Haverhill Rd) to see the low-cost draught proofing and insulation measures she has taken, following on from advice at ECHO Action meeting, and others during the year. We also get hold of some materials (to buy) - and managed to distribute enough to draught proof around 70 windows and doors. Contact Sue if you need any more materials in the meantime.
